My story, my mission, my vision.
My story
I am Evelyne Ndayiragije, a teacher with a passion for education. I have worked in education for several years and have had the chance to support learners of many kinds. Through Urumuri Académie, I care deeply about putting that experience to work passing on Kirundi and Burundian culture to Burundian children living in Canada.
My mission
Our mission is to pass on Kirundi, Burundian culture and Burundian values to the new generations, through learning that is lively and suited to each age, so that they stay connected to their roots and proud of their heritage.
My vision
Our vision is to see a generation of young people grow up speaking Kirundi with confidence, knowing and valuing their culture, and passing on in turn the richness of their language and their heritage to the generations that follow.
My values
A child who knows their roots moves through the world with confidence.
Every child learns at their own pace, and that pace is the right one.
We remember what we enjoyed learning. Classes run on games, songs and stories.
A language is passed on at home as much as in class. Parents are part of the journey.
